(PGCE Secondary)

We believe that the best place to train teachers effectively is in schools. Lectures and training sessions are delivered by serving teachers and you will be based at one of our schools throughout your training year.

The course is run in collaboration with Partnership schools who all provide trainee placements. We also work with a number of Primary and Middle Schools and FE Institutions to enable trainees' experience in consecutive key stages.

Over the next few years the Government is intending to move teaching from being 'All Graduate' to 'All Masters'. Your early professional development will give you a chance to gather points towards your Master's degree by studying a series of modules. These are generally in 30 point units and you need to gather 180 points altogether. As part of this we are operating a scheme with the University of Bedfordshire which will enable you to begin this process. 30 points can be worked towards during your ITT year by submitting an enhanced version of one of your assignments by October of your NQT year. This would be followed  by a second unit of 30 points gained by registering with the University of Bedfordshire and carrying out a linked piece of study.

Chiltern Training Group is an accredited Institution of the University of Bedfordshire who also validate all of our PGCE courses. All trainees are fully affiliated to the University of Bedfordshire, the National Union of Students and a range of student facilities, including use of the Universtiy Resource Centre and acess to sport amenities.
